Welcome from our Parents' Club President
This 2019-20 school year is upon us! We are looking forward to an exciting year, full of new learning, experiences, and ways to come together as a community. To that end, I’d like to encourage you to join the PHS Parents’ Club and attend our PHS PC Meetings.
First, please take a moment to join the PHS Parents’ Club at the Piedmont Store during online registration or visit our table at walk-through registration. Your dues fund an amazing array of “extra” academic and extracurricular activities for our students and staff… and help to make PHS so special.
Here are a few of the programs the Parents’ Club funds each year through your membership:
$5,000 in grants for innovative learning, from digital cameras for art and photojournalism, to a new computer lab, to staff training for student stress-reduction movement classes
The partnership with the Stanford-affiliated Challenge Success, a program that has helped PHS implement many critical student mental health strategies like later school/exam start times
School events including grade-level activities, teacher/staff appreciation luncheons and senior celebrations
Your membership contributions are the sole source of the Parents’ Club budget, and support levels range from $75 to $250. In addition to directories and gifts associated with each level, if you join before October 15th, you will be entered in a drawing for exciting prizes, and your kids will receive bracelets in the color of their grade during walk-through registration. Details are on the Piedmont Store.
Second, I encourage you to attend our monthly Parents’ Club board meetings to keep abreast of what’s going on at PHS and to hear from our dedicated administrators. You’ll learn about school-wide initiatives and district updates, meet faculty and staff, and socialize with fellow parents.
To accommodate our busy schedules, PHS PC board meetings will be on Friday mornings, with two planned Thursday evening meetings (November and February). Friday meetings will be held from 9:15-10:45 in the District Board Room on: 9/6, 10/4,12/6, 1/17, 3/6, 4/3 and 5/1. Evening meetings will be held at 7pm on 11/7 and 2/6 in the PHS Student Center. If you are not able to attend in person, minutes will be posted on this site.
In closing, I appreciate your generosity and want to acknowledge the hard work of the PHS PC Board. Together, we provide countless volunteer hours and necessary financial resources for PHS.
I look forward to working and engaging with all of you!
